Tenterden town has an extensive range of independent specialist shops. The town also boasts an excellent range of inns, coffee shops, tee rooms and restaurants.
There are many surrounding villages with quaint shops, places to explore, local rural inns and pubs offering home cooked food and quality ales.
With Tenterden Golf Club being set in the wine growing region, a visit to one the many Kent vineyards is highly recommended.
In nearby Ashford there is a newly shopping centre and on the outskirts centre is Ashford International offering direct train services to France and Belgium. Next to this is the McArthur Glen Retail Village with over 100 shops. Along the A28 towards Ashford is Great Chart Golf Range and 9 hole short course.
The A274 road to Maidstone passes the first course designed by Nick Faldo, Chart Hills.
